The Mirror Of The Royal Law
The Royal Law is a mirror for our hearts.
(1 Jn 3:16)
· The Law reflects God’s character and His heart.
· The Law reveals how my external actions and internal attitudes align
with God’s character and His heart.
· The Law, like a mirror, is meant to call me to repent, be washed clean
by Jesus, and invite transformation through the Holy Spirit.
(Mat 5:46-48, Jam 2:10-11)
Breaking the Royal Law is breaking the whole Law …
(Ex 20:2-17, Deut 10:12-19, Rom 13:8-10, 1 Jn 4:7-8)
Because the whole Law is the Royal Law.
The Law as a mirror would lead us to ask …
Do we claim to love each other, yet don’t forgive those who have offended us?
(Prov 17:9, Mat 6:14-15, 11 Pet 4:8)
Do we claim to love the church, yet don’t give, serve, and pray for our church?
(Deut 15:7-8, 2 Cor 9:6-8, Mk 10:44-45, Eph 6:18)
Do we claim to be in favour of biblical marriage, yet we don’t love our spouses sacrificially?
(Prov 19:14, Eph 5:21-33, 1 Pet 3:1-7)
Do we claim to value human life, yet don’t care for those who are suffering physically, mentally or emotionally, or for those dying unjustly in our world?
(Prov 19:17, Lev 19:14, Ps 82:3, 2 Cor 1:3-4, 1 Jn 3:16-18)
(Jn 8:36, 10:10)
Look intently into the mirror of the Royal Law. Come to Jesus to be washed clean. Be transformed and empowered by the Holy Spirit to reflect God’s heart in attitudes and action.
(Mat 22:37, 39)
