day camp worker

Administrative Assistant

Heartland is seeking individuals who have a desire to care for and share Jesus with the children of Strathcona County and the surrounding area at Day Camps. These positions will require availability to serve in all Day Camps during the summer months.  
 
The right individuals will:
  •  Be approachable, patient, and have strong communication skills with staff, children, and community members 
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Have strong and creative problem-solving skills 
  • Have a desire to bring biblical truths, love, and fun to children of all ages and stages of life 
  • Be comfortable discussing sensitive topics with children/guardians in an appropriate manner 
  • Be able to work with their hands and relevant technology (crafts, videos, music, etc.) 
  • Have the ability to set priorities and manage their areas and individual tasks to ensure timely communication and to meet deadlines

 Hours
  •  Approx. 40 hours/week
  • Two month (July-August) applications are currently being accepted
  • Time off during these months is subject to supervisor approval

Experience
  •  Childcare (work or volunteer): 2 years preferred
*Work with children with special needs is considered an asset

Heartland is seeking a person who has excellent interpersonal, technological, and communication skills and demonstrates an ability to successfully engage with staff, congregation members, and members of the Strathcona County community. This position will be part of the main office Administrative Team, with a focus on reception and assigned admin tasks. 
 
The right individual will:
  • Be proficient in using Microsoft software - Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, etc. 
  • Have a familiarity with Planning Center, Canva, and Basecamp platforms (preferred but not required) 
  • Have a familiarity with commercial office printers 
  • Be proficient in hard copy and electronic versions of organizational structures (filing paperwork, computer systems, etc.)
  • Have strong problem-solving skills 
  • Be approachable, patient, and have strong communication skills with both staff, congregation, and community members  
  • Be comfortable with frequent interruptions to their workday 
  • Have the ability to set priorities and manage their own tasks to ensure timely communication and to meet deadlines

Hours
  • Approx. 24 hours/week
  • 3 full days a week, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm between Monday to Friday, is required (specific days negotiable)

Experience
  • Reception: 1 year (preferred)
  • Administrative experience: 1 year (preferred)
