Gate Community Summer - Day 7

Is your life as a Christ-follower portraying a transformed picture to others?

Special power is essential for an expanding witness to Christ. In both Luke and Acts, Jesus says that power must come first before witness. Without power we will not be able to share the love of Jesus.

With the special power of the Holy Spirit comes...

Deep Conviction

1 Thessalonians 1:5a

…because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.

Self-Denying Courage & Boldness

Acts 4:31

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.

Acts 28:30-31

30 He lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him, 31 proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.

2 Timothy 1:7

...for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Convincing Wisdom

Example: Stephen

Acts 6:5

And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch.

Acts 6:8

And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.

Acts 6:10

But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.

Acts 11:24

…for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.

Have you been baptized with the Holy Spirit?

Have you received power?
