Gate Community Summer - Day 38
We have been looking at Acts 5:12-16. Yesterday we talked about the evidence of power that the Spirit displayed. Today we look at...
The Evidence of Power Was So Great, No One Dared Join Pretending
13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people.
The church was in its infancy and its power had nothing to do with it structure or its value, it had nothing to do with how it was decorated, or who was preaching that day. It was powerful because of the one that set people free from their sin and then empowered them with the Holy Spirit’s power. This church was so powerful that the sinners did not want to join it under false pretenses. They had heard what had happened to Ananias and Sapphira, some of them even witnessed the healing of the lame man. This young church had made a statement that following God required complete obedience to his ways, a dedication to unity, and a willingness to embrace the power of the Spirit. For those unwilling to make such a commitment they had admiration from a far.
Do you follow God with the same complete obedience, dedication to unity and willingness to embrace the power of the Spirit as the early church?
