Gate Community Summer - Day 2

We started our year way back on September 13 by asking the question...

Do you believe in Jesus?

Do you remember why this question was so critical for our study in the book of Acts?

The Book of Acts is the continuation of Jesus’ ministry on earth. It is the building and beginning of a movement called the church! In order to understand the movement of the church, you must understand that the church is built on the foundation of Jesus’ ministry on earth. Before you embrace what the church is all about you have to embrace Jesus and know why you believe in him!

Luke opens the book of Acts with this…

"In the first book (Book of Luke), O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach

Notice Luke says "all that Jesus began to do and teach" - that means that even though Jesus is returning back up to heaven in these verses, his ministry does not end. It is only in the beginning stages. The work of Jesus is only beginning. You think Jesus did some amazing things while here on earth. Well buckle up because that was only the beginning. That is why he gives us this promise in…

John 14:12

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

Do you believe in Jesus?

If you do then you will believe the same works that Jesus did on earth, you also can do.

If you do then you will believe the amazing stories we have read and will continue to read in Acts about God working are not just stories for then, but they are stories for today!

If you do then you will believe that we are called to a movement… A movement of the ongoing ministry of Jesus through the church, through the power of the Holy Spirit and the presence of God the Father amongst us.

Do you believe in Jesus?
