Spritual Gifts and Becoming All You Were Made to Be

God is wanting to shine his light on every part of you. He desires to bring the depths of you to his light and bring out the best in how he created you; maximizing the effective work of Jesus in and through you!

He has created you with a specific personality, set of skills, and talents. Along with these natural abilities he also gives you spiritual gifts that are to be uniquely displayed in your life here on earth. The Holy Spirit gives us gifts to compliment our different callings.

Your general call should be equivalent to your spiritual gifts. God does not give you gifts that he does not call you to use, nor does he call you to do something for him without equipping you with the necessary gifts. The awesome part is that the general call on your life can have a specific expression that is unique to you! For example, someone can have a calling to be a teacher, but then practice it in many different contexts; radio host, school, small group, etc.

The key thing is no matter what gifts we have, we submit them to God and express them out of love. They are not given to put ourselves on display rather to see the Kingdom of God built up.

1 Corinthians 13:2 - “If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.”

When we learn about spiritual gifts, we grow not just in our knowledge of having a certain gift but also in walking in the anointing of the Holy Spirit. It’s when we are anointed by the Holy Spirit that we see God really using us effectively for his purposes.

As we discover our spiritual gifts and use them, we will see ourselves becoming more like Jesus. God cares about all of us and desires to use us to help build his church.

Take time to read through the passages that talk about the different types of spiritual gifts. These don’t include all of them, but it may be a good starting point for you to begin to ask the Holy Spirit, “What gifts have you given me or desire to give me?”

Next Wednesday (October 4) we will be taking a Spiritual Gift Inventory. Make sure to attend upcoming weekend services as we begin to unpack the different types of gifting’s found in the Bible.

Blessings,
