Are you the light of the Gospel in a dark world?
Awesome to be at the Charest Ranch every second week for the months of April-June. Our Leader Kris Schmidtke shared on purpose this past week at Young Adults. Take a read, it's based on our series looking at Philippians 1:12-18.
God has a purpose for each and every one of us, and in following that purpose we can receive the joy and fulfillment that God promises to those who love Him. Each of us is unique, and so is the purpose God has given us in sharing the Gospel with those around us.
The Gospel may be shared in many ways through speaking, serving, loving, supporting, or befriending. However, sometimes we experience hold-ups in sharing the Gospel with those around us.
We need not wait to share the Gospel "when we are ready", now is always a good time.
In Philippians 1:12-18 Paul addresses the matter of motives when sharing the Gospel. He emphasizes that sharing the life and truth of the Gospel is of utmost importance. He goes even as far to say, "But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice." (v18)
We need not be afraid to share the Gospel out of fear of rejection or consequence.
He goes on in Philippians 19-26 to talk about what it means to have an eternal perspective that can help conquer fear or reservation in serving Jesus Christ. In verses 20-21 Paul says, "I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."
But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. (Exodus 9:16)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit, and pray that throughout this week your conversations would be seasoned with the salt of His truth and the hope of the Gospel.
