Jesus our Savior Recap & Street Ministry Update

Street Ministry Street Ministry

From its earliest days, The Alliance has had as its foundation the four aspects of knowing Jesus. Leading up to Christmas at young adults we are going to unpack the basic understanding of Jesus as 1) Savior, 2) Sanctifier, 3) Healer and 4) Coming King through the word, testimony, and discussion. Here is a short recap of the first week.

Week 1: Jesus Our Savior – By Amanda Kassian

We unpacked how Jesus is our Savior. We focused on Romans 3:21-26 and discussed how:

  1. Jesus came to save us from condemnation and our sins (justification),
  2. He saved us from God’s wrath and anger by stepping in as a substitute for us (propitiation) and
  3. He set us free from the bondage of sin by paying the price for our sins (redemption).

Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), and because Jesus is our Savior, our sins have been forgiven, we have peace with God, we are new creatures and we have a new inheritance in Him.

Challenge: How can we continue to live out our salvation on a daily basis? How can we preach the gospel to ourselves and be reminded of what Jesus did on the cross so that we do not become “numb” to this precious gift?

Street Ministry Team

On November 14 the street ministry team headed to downtown Edmonton to hand out care packages and share the gospel with people. Daniel Briscal and Nicole Tjepkema have been leading this ministry for the past 3 months. It was encouraging to see how they stressed the importance of how and why they were reaching out to those in need. It can be easy to just hand things out and feel satisfied. However, in this group there is intentionally to pray, encourage others, and talk to people about Jesus Christ as they receive care packages.

The group is very thankful for your donations and is looking forward to heading out on December 12. If you would like to join the team, please contact Daniel.

Passages to reflect on: Ephesians 2:1-10, 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Psalm 51:12.
