Fellowship of the Burning Heart

We are super excited after last nights Young Adult kick off for this year. Whether it was your first time attending Wednesday nights or you have been before, it was great to see everyone.

This year we are going to be doing a series titled Heartburn. Heartburn is a modernized version of the phrase Christian author A.W. Tozer described as “fellowship of the burning heart.” When I read this phrase the first time it resonated with me because even though it is an old school term, it simply captures what it means to be a group of people united under the same passion of Jesus.

Each Heartburn series will run four weeks. We will explore how each one shapes our lives in a personal way as well as effects our role in telling others about Jesus. We will meet in both small and large groups at the church each week.

Heartburn Series #1

Being filled with Passion and Pour out Compassion

Luke 24:32

They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

  • September 16 - Large Group - Be filled with Passion for Jesus
  • September 23 - Small Group - Be filled with Passion for Jesus
  • September 30 - Large Group - Pour out Compassion on Others
  • October 7 - Small Group - Pour out Compassion on Others

The temptation is great to not meet and gather together. The pull is strong to just allow ourselves to drift into our culture and become passive to the life of following Jesus. Our natural drift will always be away; therefore we need each other to be spurred on.

Hebrews 10:23-25

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Looking forward to meeting together and remember the best unifier is Jesus.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess!
