Alpha is Alive
Did you know that Heartland’s Young Adults meet every Wednesday night? The group ranges in ages from 18 to 30ish. We have a large group time and then break into smaller discussion groups at tables. We love to share stories, laugh and enjoy elements of worship and food.
For the last five weeks we have been going through the popular Alpha Series.
I want to express what a blessing it has been to go back to the basics of the Christian faith and explore it in the context of a safe and inviting atmosphere. I remember questioning in November whether or not we should do Alpha, but am now thankful we moved forward in faith rather than fear. God has provided generously our fantastic leaders as well as many people that are curious about faith.
Each week has brought something new: Individuals requesting Bibles, people standing and singing in worship, and some accepting the gift of Jesus! If you think about Young Adults, pray that God continues to draw hearts to our Wednesday nightevents and that it would be an authentic place for people to be known, meaningful conversation to be had, the truth of God’sWord to come alive and that hearts would be set free. Another desire is that people find connection and meaningful friendships that go beyond Wednesday night.
A verse that has been on my heart for the past month is John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. The message of the Gospel is absolutely amazing and powerful. To share the news of Jesus is to give life to a dying world and set captives free. It's a part of living the worthy life that we have been talking during the weekend services.
Have you read through the Gospels lately? Do you absorb the power of its truth for your own life, and express it to others who don't know?
"Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the Kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the son he loves. In who we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
Let’s bring life.
