May 3/2014

On May 3rd, close to two hundred people from Heartland joined together to help clean up the community for Pitch-In. Pitch-In Canada is a nationwide initiative that over a weeklong period every year encourages residents to pitch in and clean up their neighborhoods. Heartland has been part of this for many years and has developed a strong presence in Strathcona County as one of the largest groups participating each year.

This year our group gathered on a chilly Saturday morning at 8:30 am to receive supplies and instructions from Pitch-In Coordinator Dave Fleming. Each group then headed off to their designated clean up area. After a morning of fantastic clean up, everyone headed back to the church for an amazing chili lunch. There was also cotton candy and a bouncy castle for the kids. It was a great morning of being together in community while helping to serve our neighborhood. Thank you to all who came out and made it a special event.
